Growth Mindset Series Workshop

Introduction 

The Growth Mindset Series Workshop is led by our dedicated growth mindset ambassadors, who have received specialized training in this area. Together, they have been actively exploring strategies to foster growth mindsets in students and promote this approach across our school communities. Over the past few years, our ambassadors have gained valuable insights and practical experience in embedding growth mindset practices within our YCYW community.

This workshop series is designed not only to help teachers cultivate growth mindsets in students but also to encourage reflection and implementation. To ensure a comprehensive learning experience, participants are required to sign up for all four interconnected sessions, as each builds upon the last. Our goal is to ensure sustained learning that leads to real impact in students' lives.

The sessions aim to break stereotypes surrounding growth and fixed mindsets, embrace feedback and mistakes, and build resilience through intentional teacher language. The topics covered are:

1. Fixed and Growth Mindset with Sarah Tortolano & Melissa Shiu – October 28th

2. Common Misunderstandings with Marquia Greenage & Samantha Nagorcka – November 4th

3. The Mindset Continuum and the False Mindset with Colette Schachat, Samantha Nagorcka, & Melissa Shiu– November 25th

4. Feedback and Mistakes with Sarah Tortolano & Colette Schachat– December 9th
