Approaches to Learning and Teaching

Our approaches to learning and teaching refers to our “High-quality learning and teaching”, which are essential components to build our learning communities. In YCYW, high-quality learning is defined as an environment, a relationship, and a process that enables learners to acquire knowledge, skills, and understanding while fostering key competencies like flexibility and communication. It emphasizes problem-solving, well-structured tasks, visibility of the learning process, clear outcomes, quality resources, timely feedback, individualized and collaborative work opportunities.

High-quality teaching involves a comprehensive approach that caters to the diverse needs and potentials of all students. It incorporates innovative and effective teaching strategies, continuous assessment, and feedback mechanisms to foster an environment of learning and growth. Teachers are committed to nurturing students’ critical thinking, creativity, and character development while promoting a culture of lifelong learning. The curriculum is systematically structured and scaffolded to bridge gaps in knowledge and reinforce learning. In preparing students for globalisation, the educational approach integrates local, global, and intercultural perspectives while adhering to government expectations.
